Corach Rambler next race: What is 2023 Grand National winner’s next assignment?

Can the Rambler retain the Grand National crown?

Corach Rambler wins the Grand National

Corach Rambler stamped his name into the history books by landing the Grand National at Aintree in 2023.

Victory in the world’s greatest steeplechase came hot on the hooves of successfully defending his Ultima Handicap Chase crown at the Cheltenham Festival and took his record over fences to five wins from 10 starts.

Connections were hoping Corach Rambler could step out of handicaps and into Graded company, with a crack at the Cheltenham Gold Cup being one of his big targets for the 2023/24 campaign.

A bitterly disappointing fifth-place finish in the Edinburgh Gin Chase on seasonal reappearance suggested that looks ambitious, although a much better run in the Grade 1 Betfair Chase suggested staying power could see him pick up the pieces at the top level – and he achieved just that by flying home to place third in the big race at the Cheltenham Festival.

Corach Rambler was unable to defend his Grand National crown after unseating his rider at the first fence but that unfortunate experience means we get to see him on track once more before heading off on his holibobs.
