Bravemansgame emerged as Britain’s leading staying chaser in the 2022/23 National Hunt season.
Paul Nicholls’ stable star romped to glory in the prestigious King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day before coming off second best after a brilliant battle with Galopin Des Champs in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
A second crack at the Gold Cup is the top target for Bravemansgame in the final months of the campaign, with fresh faces and familiar foes set to be in opposition, after narrowly failing to land a second King George crown.
The eight-year-old made his seasonal reappearance in the Charlie Hall Chase but a last-fence blunder saw him lose out to Gentlemansgame before an underwhelming crack at the Betfair Chase.
There were signs of a revival in the King George, however, as Bravemansgame put up a stern defence of his title by finishing second behind Irish raider Hewick.

It is all systems go for Bravemansgame to tackle the Cheltenham Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Friday, March 15 after placing second in last year’s renewal.
Speaking to our pals Betfair in January, Paul Nicholls said: “Bravemansgame is having a little break and is going straight to Cheltenham. We were looking at the Betfair Denman Chase but we are not going to do that. I spoke to his owners, and my team, and we are taking him straight to the Festival.”
Bravemansgame could round off his campaign at Sandown for the Oaksey Chase on Saturday, April 27 or Punchestown for the Punchestown Gold Cup on Wednesday, May 1.
