York is preparing to stage its big meeting of the season as leading names in the Flat game descend on the Knavesmire for four days of quality action.
The Ebor Festival boasts 28 races from Wednesday, August 23 to Saturday, August 26 including three Group 1 contests – the Juddmonte International for the leading middle-distance horses, the Yorkshire Oaks as the girls take centre stage and the Nunthorpe Stakes for the speedballs.
The titular race of the meeting takes place on the final day and the 14-furlong handicap is one of the attritional contests of the season – and it packs a financial punch with a £500,000 prize pot.
Aidan O’Brien’s emerging superstar Paddington is likely to be the star of the show as the three-year-old bids to rattle off a fifth Group 1 success on the spin in the Juddmonte.
There are a further seven Group contests including the Great Voltigeur Stakes, which should provide a few clues for the upcoming St Leger, and the Gimcrack Stakes as two-year-old form lines meet.
York Ebor Festival odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise the race times and day-by-day schedule for this year’s meeting are below.
