If you’ve heard of one horse race in North America then the chances are it’s the Kentucky Derby.

That’s because it’s one of the most prestigious contests on the planet and has been won by some of the most famous names in the game including Secretariat and American Pharaoh.

Churchill Downs is set to stage the 149th renewal of the Kentucky Derby – it has been uninterrupted since the inaugural running in 1875 – and a bumper field of 20 runners will slug it out for the $1.860,000 winner’s prize.
