Punchestown Festival 2023 racecard, tips and results – day 3 ultimate guide

All you need to know about Thursday's races!

El Fabiolo wins the Arkle Chase

The core Jumps season in Ireland concludes with the Punchestown Festival 2023 – and you’ve come to the right place for all your needs on the third day of the mega meet.

A horse that is aging like the finest of wines tops the bill in the feature race, the Champion Stayers Hurdle. Sire Du Berlais pulled off a shock 33/1 win in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before proving it was no fluke by storming to victory in the Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree. The 11-year-old faces eight rivals including Klassical Dream, who has won the last two renewals of the Champion Stayers Hurdle, as he bids to bring up a spring Grade 1 hat-trick.

The pick of the supporting races is the Barberstown Castle Novice Chase as impressive Arkle winner El Fabiolo takes on stablemate Dysart Dynamo as Saint Roi and Indiana Jones complete the line up.

It might also be worth keeping an eye on the final renewal on the card as Willie Mullins pitches Ballyburn into the JP & M Doyle (C & G) Flat Race after an eye-catching course-and-distance victory on debut.
