Hot on the hooves of the Irish and Aintree equivalents, Ayr is preparing to stage the Scottish Grand National.

Win My Wings was the emphatic winner of last year’s renewal but the mare will not be back to defend her crown after being retired at the start of this season due to injury.

Trainer Christian Williams also saddled the runner-up in 2022 and that horse, Kitty’s Light, is set to return for another crack at the race off a 3lb lower handicap mark.

As well as being a stamina-sapping contest over a 4m marathon trip, there are 27 fences for the Scottish Grand National runners to negotiate.

Unsurprisingly, it is the most lucrative Jumps race in Scotland as the winner will bag a cool £112,540 for connections.

You can run the rule over our Scottish Grand National odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about this year’s renewal can be found below.

Monbeg Genius, with three wins from five starts in his first season over fences, is the favourite with Paddy Power for the Scottish Grand National following a fine third place in the Ultima Handicap Chase behind subsequent Aintree Grand National winner Corach Rambler.

Kitty’s Light is next in the betting as Christian Williams’ stable star bids to build on victory in the Eider Handicap Chase last time out.
