Our very own Ruby Walsh landed the 2000 Grand National at the age of 20 on Papillon – trained by his father – before a second victory on Willie Mullins’ charge Hedgehunter five years later.

George Stevens is the leading jockey in Grand National history having ridden five winners during his career in the saddle.
What do you mean you haven’t heard of George Stevens? Well, I’ll forgive ya because the Cheltenham-born pilot scored victories on Freetrader, Emblem, Emblematic and The Colonel in the mid-19th century.
Who are the most successful Grand National jockeys in 2023 race?
Davy Russell is the most successful jockey taking part in this year’s renewal having partnered Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019 – and he rides the Gordon Elliott-trained Galvin this time around.
A third victory in the Grand National would be the perfect way to bring the curtain down (for the second time) on his career in the saddle.
Rachael Blackmore, Derek Fox, Daryl Jacob and Ryan Mania are the only other jockeys taking part in Saturday’s 5:15pm that have previously ridden a winner in the Grand National.
