Grand National silks: What colours is my jockey wearing at Aintree today?

Paddy's guide to spotting your horse!

Noble Yeats' colours in the Grand National

Okay, I’ll level with ya, it can be quite difficult to spot your Grand National horse amid the cavalry charge to the first fence at Aintree.

Sure, the fact that number of runners has been reduced from 40 to 34 for this year’s renewal might make that a bit simpler, but, luckily, there’s an easy peasy way to keep track of your selection… the jockeys’ silks!

GET TO KNOW THE BIG-RACE RUNNERS AND RIDERS

The bright colours that the riders don will help you tell the horses apart and as their outfits come in all manner of bright colours and patterns, you’ll want to know what you’re keeping an eye out for when the world’s greatest steeplechase gets going at 4pm.

Well, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered for the Grand National 2024 with our handy graphic below with the silk colours for all 34 runners and riders.

Right, you’ve looked at the silks and probably noticed that quite a few jockeys are wearing the same silks. That’s because the colours are associated with owners as opposed to the trainers or jockeys.

A couple of owners have multiple runners in this season’s Grand National including Gigginstown House Stud, with four, and JP McManus, who has five!

That’s where you’ll have to look extra hard as the riders in the same silks have different coloured caps. For example, Jordan Gainford on Coko Beach sports Gigginstown’s maroon colours and white star on his cap while Delta Work jockey Jack Kennedy has a blue cap.
