Fairyhouse is set to stage a three-day fiesta of National Hunt racing as the Jumps season in Ireland enters the final furlong.
The feature race, the Irish Grand National, takes place on the third and final day of the meeting, Easter Monday, with a bumper field set to tackle 22 fences over the marathon trip of 3m5f.
Connections of the first past the post will bag a tidy €270,000 and local trainer Dermot McLoughlin is bidding to win the race for the third year in a row as he saddles last year’s winner, Lord Lariat.
Before we get to the main event, there are seven races on Saturday, with the pick of the opening contests being the Grade A RYBO Handicap Hurdle, which includes Matty Jazzy, the winner of last month’s Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival.
The action steps up a gear on day two with a pair of Grade 1s – the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final and the WilllowWarm Gold Cup, which was won by a certain Galopin Des Champs last year – as well as a smattering of Grade 2s.
