Newbury is preparing to stage the most lucrative handicap hurdle on the racing calendar in Britain.

The Betfair Hurdle is worth £87,219 and it is a fast-and-furious affair with eight flights to be jumped over the 2m½f trip.

The race is stepped in history as the likes of Persian War and Make A Stand are among the names on the winners list, although we’re highly unlikely to see any Champion Hurdle contenders in action.

You can run the rule over our Betfair Hurdle odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise all the key details about this year’s renewal can be found below.

Betfair Hurdle 2023 date and start time

The Betfair Hurdle is set to take place at Newbury on Saturday, February 11. The post time is set for 15:35 GMT. You can watch the race live on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app or on ITV4.

Betfair Hurdle 2023 betting

Betfair Hurdle odds are on paddypower.com and prices for the leading contenders can be seen on our snazzy widgets below.

Emmet Mullins has form for spotting handicap opportunities and the JP McManus-owned Filey Bay is the favourite with Paddy Power for the Betfair Hurdle after two wins from two starts this season.

Hacker Des Places, who carries a penalty for beating Might I at Festival Trials Day last month, is next in the betting for Paul Nicholls.

Willie Mullins’ Icare Allen is also prominent in our market and is one of the classier horses in the race boasting a Grade 3 Juvenile Hurdle last term on his CV.
