Cheltenham takes over staging duties of the rescheduled Clarence House Chase after Ascot was forced to abandon last weekend’s meeting due to frozen ground.
It means a switch from the right-handed track that provided the setting for last year’s thrilling race between Shishkin and Energumene to the left-handed track that Willie Mullins’ gelding scored on in the subsequent Champion Chase.
After falling marginally short in last year’s renewal, Energumene is set to once again make the trip over to the UK but Tingle Creek winner Edwardstone is his major rival this time around.
