Willie Mullins’ reliable campaigner Sharjah has landed the last four renewals and is bidding to become the most successful horse in the history of the race, which has been won by the likes of Istabraq, Moscow Flyer and Hurricane Fly over the years.
The 2m contest could see a changing of the guard, however, with Mullins set to unleash last season’s County Hurdle winner State Man and Triumph Hurdle hero Vauban, and Gordon Elliott pitching Pied Piper into the mix.
