A four-day festive feast of racing!

Facile Vega

Emerging forces and established stars of the Irish National Hunt scene are set to come out and play at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.

The four-day racing bonanza takes place between Monday, December 26 and Thursday, December 29 and it is set to offer plenty of clues ahead of the big spring meetings.

We’re sponsoring all seven races on the second day of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival and racegoers could witness something special as Facile Vega is set to take on all comers in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle – a race won by the likes of Istabraq, Hurricane Fly and Sizing John over the years. The most expensive race of the afternoon is the Paddy Power Chase, which is worth a cool €110,000 to winning connections.

The novice chasers are, arguably, the most exciting crop of horses at this stage of the season with Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins both boasting a number of talented runners so races like the Brand New Racing Post App Novice Chase on Monday and Neville Hotels Novice Chase on Thursday should help in the process of sorting out the classier types from the also rans.

A Plus Tard will bid to bounce back from a disappointing run in the Betfair Chase by reclaiming Wednesday’s feature, the Savills Chase, but last season’s Gold Cup winner faces competition from Conflated, Galvin and Kemboy. The afternoon’s card also features the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle, run in memory of Jack De Bromhead, with Flooring Porter set to face the Henry De Bromhead-trained Bob Olinger.

Elsewhere during the meeting, Sharjah faces up-and-coming stablemate State Man in his bid to land a record-breaking fifth renewal of the Matheson Hurdle on Friday.

The latest horse racing odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise everything you need to know about the Christmas Festival including the racecards, tips and results is below.
