Ascot is set to play host to the final race of Baaeed’s brief but brilliant career on British Champions Day.
The highest-rated horse in the world will bring the curtain down on his racing ventures in the Qipco Champion Stakes after connections opted against taking another step up in trip for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.
But Baaeed faces his toughest test as last year’s Epsom Derby king Adayar provides the principal opposition. The 10-furlong contest also plays a key role in settling the Trainers’ Championship between William Haggas and Charlie Appleby, with a prize pot worth in excess of £1,000,000 up for grabs.
The latest Champion Stakes odds are on the Paddy Power website, otherwise you’ll find everything you need to know about the race including the date, start time and runners below.
Champion Stakes 2022 date and start time
The latest renewal of the Champion Stakes is set to take place at 16:00 on Saturday, October 15. It is one of four Group 1s on the British Champions Day card at Ascot.

Baaeed is the red-hot favourite as the Sea The Stars colt bids to bring up a perfect 10 wins in a row and take his prize money soaring past the £3,000,000 mark.
Adayar is the chief threat and last year’s Epsom Derby scorer delivered an impressive performance on his belated seasonal reappearance to win the Hilton Garden Inn Doncaster Conditions Stakes without coming off the bridle.
