A host of classy National Hunt horses are preparing to take their chance in the Galway Plate, the highlight of the summer Jumps schedule.

The prestige is backed up by a pretty prize pot worth €270,000, and the first past the post in the Grade A handicap chase over 2m6½f will bag a cool €159,300 for connections.

Willie Mullins dominated last year’s Galway Plate as he saddled the first two home – Royal Rendezvous and Easy Game – and the Closutton trainer is once again targeting success.

You’ll find all the key details about the Galway Plate 2022 including the date, start time, runners and riders, and Paddy Power’s betting odds below.

Galway Plate 2022 odds

You can run the rule over Paddy Power’s latest prices for the Galway Plate on our snazzy widgets below and the market in full on the Paddy Power website.

The Shunter has proved popular in the market despite failing to score over obstacles since a convincing victory in the Paddy Power Plate at last year’s Cheltenham Festival. Emmet Mullins’ star warmed up for this with a comfortable victory in a Sligo maiden on the Flat in May.

The Grand National-winning trainer also saddles Cape Gentleman, who has not been seen since falling in the Drinmore Novice Chase last November but boasted decent form over fences in three runs prior to that. Donagh Meyler is booked to ride.

Despite a career record of just four runs over fences, Fire Attack is also prominent in our market off the back of a convincing victory in a handicap at Punchestown in May. Claimer Shane Fitzgerald takes off 3lbs.

Gabynako is another among the market principals thanks to a decent book of form last season that included a second place in the Arkle Chase and a narrow defeat to subsequent Grand National winner Noble Yeats in a Beginners Chase.
