The Epsom Oaks is the third of the season’s Classics in the UK as the girls take centre stage on the first day of the Derby Festival.
1000 Guineas heroine Cachet will not be among the field so a new Classic winner will be crowned, with a huge prize sum worth £311,905 on offer to winning connections.
Snowfall claimed last year’s renewal at a starting price of 11/2 and the latest crop of three-year-old fillies are set to run their race for a place in the history books.
You’ll find all the key details about the Epsom Oaks including the date, start time and Paddy Power’s odds below.
When is the Epsom Oaks?
Runners and riders in the 2022 Epsom Oaks are set to go to post at 4.30pm on Friday, June 3. A bumper crowd is expected at the track as it coincides with a bank holiday in the UK as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Snowfall won last year’s renewal in record-breaking style when scoring by 16l and the daughter of Deep Impact went on to win two more Group 1s including the Irish Oaks. She was sadly euthanised in January due to a pelvic injury.
Which horses are running in the Epsom Oaks?
There are 11 horses left in the running for the 2022 Epsom Oaks after the 48-hour declaration stage.
Concert Hall (Seamie Heffernan) Emily Upjohn (Frankie Dettori) Kawida (Jim Crowley) Moon De Vega (Rob Hornby) Nashwa (Hollie Doyle) Rogue Milliennium (Jack Mitchell) The Algarve (Colin Keane) Thoughts Of June (Wayne Lordan) Tranquil Lady (Tom Marquand) Tuesday (Ryan Moore) With The Moonlight (William Buick)
Who is the favourite to win the Epsom Oaks?
John & Thady Gosden’s Emily Upjohn heads Paddy Power’s betting for the 2022 Epsom Oaks after an impressive 5½l victory in the Musidora Stakes at York.
The Gosden yard look to have a strong hand in this as Nashwa is unbeaten in two starts at the age of three including a Listed success in the Haras De Bouquetot Fillies’ Trial Stakes.
Aidan O’Brien steps Tuesday up in trip after placing third in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and second in the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh.
Concert Hall is another Ballydoyle prospect, according to our odds, after placing third in the Irish 1000 Guineas. The daughter of Dubawi has won over 1m2f in the Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan and could benefit from a step up in trip.
With The Moonlight‘s price was cut after landing the Pretty Polly Stakes for Charlie Appleby at Newmarket in May.
