The first Classic of the Flat season is almost upon us as Newmarket prepares to play host to the 2000 Guineas.
It’ll be our first proper chance to see how the leading three-year-olds stack up against each other, although we’ve already witnessed Charlie Appleby’s Native Trail bolt up in the Craven Stakes to establish his position as the one to beat.
A bumper prize pot worth £500,000 is up for grabs including £283,550 to winning connections, making it one of the most lucrative races on the calendar in the UK.
You’ll find all the key details about the 2000 Guineas including the date, start time and Paddy Power’s odds below.
When is the 2000 Guineas?
The 2022 edition of the 2000 Guineas is scheduled to take place at 3.40pm on Saturday, April 30. Poetic Flare was the winner of last season’s renewal as Jim Bolger’s colt got the better of Craven Stakes scorer Master Of The Seas by a short head. The son of Dawn Approach also won the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, placed second in three more Group 1s and was just ¾l behind St Mark’s Basilica when finishing third in a thrilling Irish Champion Stakes on his final career run before retiring to stud.

Who is the favourite to win the 2000 Guineas?
Dewhurst Stakes winner Native Trail heads Paddy Power’s betting for the 2000 Guineas after landing the Craven Stakes on his seasonal reappearance over course and distance on the Rowley Mile.
The Godolphin x Charlie Appleby operation also boast the second in our market, Coroebus, who claimed the Group 3 Autumn Stakes over course and distance at the end of last season.
Epsom Derby antepost favourite Luxembourg is next in the betting and boasts a perfect record from three starts as a two-year-old, with success in the Vertem Futurity Trophy on his CV.
