Tiger Roll will become a Ryanair flight attendant after making his final Cheltenham appearance, according to reports.
The news will come as a further blow to many punters who had hoped to see the two-time Grand National winner compete for a third title at Aintree next month.
Rumours of an announcement confirming the move are swirling ahead of Wednesday’s Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase, as Tiger Roll hopes to bring the curtain down on an incredible career with a sixth and final Cheltenham win.
“If he’s not racing anymore then he’ll have to do something,” a source close to Tiger Roll’s owner, Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary, told us.
“He won’t be just lying about his stable all day.
“Hay and sugar lumps don’t pay for themselves either – unless he buys them from Ryanair’s in-flight magazine, of course.”
“The plan is to start his cabin crew training inside a decommissioned Boeing 737 in Bergamo next Monday,” they confirmed.
However, Tiger Roll was less than enthused by the idea as he prepares for his final festival appearance.
“Am I reading this right? You have to pay for your own uniform?”, the 12-year-old Thoroughbred wondered aloud while looking at the job spec.
“I wanted to see out my golden years doing a spot of polo or dressage.
“Instead, I’ll be serving rose wine to rowdy Dubs Hen Parties carrying giant inflatable d*cks and telling sunburnt p*ssed lads to put their seatbelts on.”
Meanwhile, as news of Tiger Roll’s career change spread, frequent flyers took to the internet to vent their fury.
“There isn’t enough room to swing a cat in those cabins, never mind a racehorse”, tweeted disgruntled Ryanair passenger Kerry Case.
“I wouldn’t fancy being hit with a flushed horse sh*te from a great height”, commented concerned Dublin resident Luke Brown.
