All roads lead to the Cheltenham Festival and, being honest, we’re already counting down the days until the four-day fiesta swings into town once again.

The 2021/22 Jumps season is in its stride and the quality of the racing is only set to increase as the stars of the sport return to the track. Cheltenham has a number of meetings, race days and key trials in the build up to the big one and we’ve jotted them down below so you’re up to date and in the loop.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

We’ve leapt into National Hunt mode here on PP News with Mick Fitzgerald and Paul Jacobs giving us their 10 to follow for this season. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got regular tipping columns from the likes of Ruby Walsh, Matt Chapman and Jason Weaver to keep you covered for the months ahead.

Paddy’s tasked his traders with pricing up antepost betting markets ahead of the Cheltenham Festival 2022 so you’ll want to check out paddypower.com/horse-racing for the latest odds.

The Showcase 2021

Friday October 22 & Saturday October 23

The fledgling National Hunt season kicks into gear with Cheltenham hosting racing for the first time since the summer break. A host of emerging stars including Galvin, Rouge Vif and Fusil Raffles were successful at last year’s meeting. Which up-and-coming names will make a name for themselves in 2021?

The November Meeting 2021

Friday November 12, Saturday November 13 & Sunday November 14

An unmissable meeting that boasts a lorryload of Graded races as the road to the Cheltenham Festival intensifies – and the Paddy Power Handicap Chase is the standout race on the opening day.

It’s all about Saturday’s racing as there are a string of top-quality renewals on Paddy Power Day including the Paddy Power Gold Cup. Coole Cody was first past the post in last year’s renewal to scoop £74,035 for connections. Evan Williams’ charge beat the likes of Spiritofthegames, Mister Fisher, Aso and Grand Annual winner Sky Pirate.

The November Meeting wraps up with a number of Graded races including the Shloer Chase, which is expected to attract plenty of big names, and the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle.

The International 2021

Friday December 10 & Saturday December 11

Ho ho ho! An early Christmas for racing fans in the form of two top days of action at Prestbury Park.

Graded chases and a cross-country renewal provide plenty of highlights but the action steps up a notch on the Saturday with the International Hurdle, won by Song For Someone last year.

New Year’s Day 2022

Saturday January 1

Beat that New Year’s Day hangover with some cracking Cheltenham contests as we drew ever closer to the Festival – and the bumper card is being sponsored by our Paddy!

Unfortunately, the 2021 edition was called off due to flooding so hopefully the British weather doesn’t let us down once again. Oldgrangewood edged out Saint Calvados and Lalor in a thrilling renewal of the Paddy Power Handicap Chase in 2020.

Festival Trials Day 2022

Saturday January 29

A final warm up for some runners set to feature at the Cheltenham Festival as trainers look to fine tune their charges. A host of big names scored in 2020 including Gold Cup runner-up Santini and Paisley Park.

Just like the previous race day, Festival Trials Day 2021 was abandoned due to the weather. Lightning can’t strike twice again… can it?

Cheltenham Festival 2022

Tuesday March 15, Wednesday March 16, Thursday March 17 & Friday March 18

The biggest fixture on the National Hunt calendar. The 2022 edition should be bigger and better than ever as fans are allowed to return to the grandstands after being barred from attending this year due to coronavirus restrictions.

Paddy’s once again got his name on the Stayers’ Hurdle – the big race on day three of the meeting – which was won by Flooring Porter in superb fashion in 2021, while the Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase and Paddy Power Plate joined our stable of races.

You can expect four days of fast and furious racing on the Old Course and the New Course at Prestbury Park. Can Honeysuckle make it back-to-back Champion Hurdles? Will Shishkin confirm himself as Altior’s successor by landing the Champion Chase? Does Minella Indo have the tank to repeat his Gold Cup success? All these questions and more will eventually be answered… and we can hardly wait!
