It’s the opening day of the Breeders’ Cup 2021 at Del Mar and we’ve got five cracking contests to enjoy as the juveniles take centre stage.

You’ll find everything you need to know about the runners and riders set to go to post by visiting our superb Racecards feature. We’ve got details of each horse’s form, weights and latest Paddy Power odds. If you like, gallop over there now, otherwise here is a round up of the renewals on day one of the Breeders’ Cup 2021.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

The first Breeders’ Cup race of the meeting is the Juvenile Turf Sprint at 9.50pm. There are a number of familiar names in the field including Molecomb Stakes champ Armor, Railway Stakes winner Go Bears Go, Twilight Jet and Hierarchy.

We step up to 1m ½f as a field of just six runners tackle the Juvenile Fillies at 10.30pm before the Juvenile Fillies Turf at 11.10pm. 2021 Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy takes the ride of Mise En Scene while Rockfel Stakes winner Hello You steps up to 1m for the first time in her fledgling career.

The colts and geldings get their chance over 1m ½f in the TVG Juvenile at 11.50pm before the final race of the day, the Juvenile Turf, in the early hours at 12.30am. Charlie Appleby saddles Modern Games and Albahr, Aiden O’Brien pitches Glounthaune but the big threat could be Dubawi Legend, who placed second behind the impressive Native Trail in the Dewhurst Stakes last month.

Breeders’ Cup 2021 Tips – Friday November 5

Paddy Power pundit and ITV Racing expert Jason Weaver’s delivered his best bets for the five Breeders’ Cup 2021 races on the schedule.

21:50: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint

TWILIGHT JET has been a model of consistency this season and he has been handed an inside draw in stall 1, over in the bull ring of a race track.

22:30: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies

ECHO ZULU is probably going to start one of the shortest-priced favourites of the two-day bonanza, and it’s for a good reason. She brings in a 100 per cent record having won twice at Saratoga and once at Belmont in distances from five-and-a-half furlongs all the way up to the mile.

23:10: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf

MISE EN SCENE was arguably a little unlucky not to finish closer in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket when chasing home Inspiral last month. Although she’s not been handed an easy starting position, at least over this distance she has just under the length of the straight to get into a position.

23:50: TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

JACK CHRISTOPHER has produced two explosive displays on the racecourse so far. Firstly, over 6 furlongs at Saratoga and then in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont over this distance.

12:30: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf

DAKOTA GOLD brings in the perfect record having won over this distance at Monmouth Park on the turf last time in really gutsy fashion.
