NEW TO PADDY POWER?

If you like, gallop over there now to start swotting up – otherwise here is a quick round up of the renewals on Friday’s cracking card.

While there may not be any Class 1 contests, up-and-coming stars of the code emerge such as Galvin. Gordon Elliott’s charge scored in a novices’ chase at last year’s meeting before following up in the National Hunt Chase.

The opening race of the day, the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle, takes place at 1.55pm. Camprond is the favourite to follow up his success in the Persian War Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow a fortnight ago. It’s worth noting that Does He Know was successful in last year’s renewal and went on to place fifth in the race of the same name at the Cheltenham Festival.

A 2m novices’ chase is next on the agenda at 2.30pm and last year’s contest unearthed an ace in the form of Nicky Henderson’s Fusil Raffles, who went on to finish second behind stablemate Chantry House in the Marsh Novices’ Chase in March. The potential star in today’s cracking five-runner field is Dan Skelton’s Third Time Lucki.

We take in a novices’ hurdle for the stayers at 3.05pm – for which Paddy is offering money back as a free bet if your selection finishes second, third or fourth – before the feature race, the Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase, at 3.40pm.

The day’s card is rounded off by a trio of Class 3 contests – a handicap hurdle, the amateur jockeys’ handicap chase run in honour of Andy Stewart – the owner of legendary Big Buck’s who sadly passed away last month – and a maiden hurdle.
