The UK Flat Jockeys Championship is going down to the wire with the winner being crowned after Champions Day at Ascot. Reigning champ Oisin Murphy leads William Buick by just two winners heading into today’s finale.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Murphy, with 151 wins on the board, is the odds-on favourite in Paddy’s betting market for the UK Flat Jockeys Championship but Buick, on 149, is still in the hunt after closing the gap in recent days.

With the tension mounting you can expect plenty of twists and turns before the season finale in the race to be top dog after Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday. We’ve rounded up their booked rides to keep you in the loop.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 16

OISIN MURPHY

Oisin Murphy has four bookings on British Champions Day at Ascot as the race for the Flat Jockeys Championship goes down to the wire.

The 26-year-old opens on the ultra-consistent Dragon Symbol in the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes at 2pm.

Tribal Craft is his mount in the QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at 2.35 – a race in which Snowfall is likely to start off as odds-on favourite.

Murphy will be on Sussex Stakes winner Alcohol Free in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at 3.10pm.

His final hope of the day – and the Championship – is course and distance winner Sir Busker in the 20-runner Balmoral Handicap.

WILLIAM BUICK

William Buick has one more booking than his rival on British Champions Day at Ascot and kicks off in the opening race – the QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup at 1.25pm on Roberto Escobarr.

Jersey Stakes winner Creative Force is prominent in the betting for the big-field QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes at 2pm.

After that, Buick will take the reins on Master Of The Seas in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at 3.10pm which is shaping up to be a hot race over 1m.

Adayar has been one of the stars of the season thanks to victories in the Epsom Derby and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, and Buick will be hoping the Frankel colt can turn it on in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at 3.50pm.

It could go down to the last race of the season and Buick takes the ride of outsider Matthew Flinders in the Balmoral Handicap.
