York Ebor Festival Racecard: Day 1 runners and riders & Timeform tips

It’s the first day of the Ebor Festival 2021 and you’ve come to the right place to learn all about today’s seven contests at York.

All the attention will be on the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes (3.35pm) which boasts a prize pot worth a cool £1m. It was set to be a rematch between St Mark’s Basilica and Mishriff but the Eclipse Stakes winner has not been declared after suffering an infection due to a gallops incident. Ballydoyle’s strength in depth is clear for all to see as Aidan O’Brien has last year’s dual Classic winner Love to tackle the Saudi Cup champ. It’s a quality seven-runner field for the feature with the likes of Mohaafeth, Alcohol Free and Mac Swiney also involved.

The big race is preceded by the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes (3pm) which features High Definition, who has failed to live up to the hype in his three-year-old campaign and returns to the track 53 days after flopping in the Irish Derby. Kemari, Sir Lucan and Third Realm are among the other runners in a slick field. York boasts a third Pattern race on the opening day of the meeting with the Group 3 Acomb Stakes (2.25pm) for two-year-olds as Noble Truth meets Dubawi Legend.
