Paddy’s financial boon for grooms with Best Turned Out Galway Festival sponsorship

The seven-day day racing Festival comes under orders on Monday at Ballybrit and one hard-working stable staff will be a winner before the race even starts thanks to Paddy's initiative

Comments

The Galway Festival is almost upon us, people. And, to pay homage to the hardest working people in racing, and the horses of course, Paddy’s put his hand into his pocket to sponsor the Best Turned Out Horse contest throughout the week.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

This is not a drill. Our fearless leader is digging deep to double each winning groom’s booty to €200 per race and €500 for the winner of the featured Galway Hurdle on Thursday. That’s not all. The stars of the show are rewarded with a 24 carrot bouquet for their good looks, too.

Each winning groom will be automatically entered into a draw at the end of the week when they could walk away from Ballybrit with a briefcase stuffed with a bumper cash prize of €1,500, in what is one of the biggest ‘Best Turned Out Horse’ sponsorships of its kind in Ireland.

Without the grooms working away behind the scenes day and night, these Festivals simply wouldn’t happen.

They are the caretakers of the crown jewels

So it’s only right that they and the horses they care for, are rewarded for their efforts. Three cheers for the grooms.

The groom responsible for the winning horse in each race will be presented with a 24 carrot bouquet as a treat for their charge, a €200 cheque for their pockets and the chance to win a further €1,500 in the main draw.

Paddy’s sponsoring the Best Turned Out Horse prize in 44 of the 52 races at the 2021 Galway Festival (our pals at the Tote are sponsoring the other eight) but every winning groom from every race will be included in the draw for the €1,500 booty. Too kind, Paddy!
