Royal Ascot Day 5 Tips
Paddy Power’s resident jockey-turned-pundit Ruby Walsh delivers his top tips for the final day of racing at Royal Ascot.
14:30: “POINT LONSDALE was visually very impressive at the Curragh. You could see his nose getting closer to the ground, how genuine he looked and how professional he was.”
15:05: “MUTASAABEQ is the one. If we go back to his win at Newmarket last October it was a win on really testing ground.”
15:40: “Aidan O’Brien, has four horses in this race and I think BROOME is crying out to go back to a mile and a half. To be honest I’m not a massive fan of the other three.”
16:20: “NAHAARR is the one that interests me. He dwelled in the stalls fractionally in the Arkle and ended up at the back of the field behind Starman. Now, Nahaarr had fitness on his side over Starman.”
17:00: “It’s a matter of being drawn left or right here. Those in the middle are at a big disadvantage. Really high is DANZENO for Ray Dawson and Michael Appleby. He’s drawn 29, a big price and will have a shout.”
17:35: “VISUALISATION won well at the Curragh in his last start, while there’s plenty of runners here that have to improve on current form.”
18:10: “The extreme distance might bring a bit of improvement in STRATUM. He’s getting a little sore as he’s getting older and this distance will really suit him. He’s got that doggedness about him and will love the trip.”
