My Dubawi made a promising start to his career when third at Newmarket and sets a fair standard for the others to aim at. My Dubawi knew his job on debut and launched a bold bid from the front but was unable to sustain the effort and was headed over a furlong out. He should be well suited by stepping up in trip – he doesn’t have a sprint pedigree – and he can make the most of his experience here.
Cometh The Man didn’t show a great deal as a juvenile but he produced an improved performance on his return at Redcar last month, only just failing to get up after keeping on well. He hasn’t quite performed to the same level the last twice, but he has run creditably to finish placed and could still have a bit more to offer as he is a big, strong gelding. The application of cheekpieces can eke out a bit more improvement and he can gain a deserved victory from what appeals as a fair mark.
Tamaska justified support when getting off the mark at Thirsk last month and can defy a 6 lb higher mark in what is arguably a weaker race. Tamaska showed improved form at Thirsk, sticking to his task well inside the final furlong to prevail by three-quarters of a length, and he is entitled to take another step forward, keeping in mind his lightly-raced profile.
There are a few interesting, progressive types in this tightly-knit handicap but the one to side with could be Contact, who arrives on the back of a decisive success at Redcar last month. He had signed off for his two-year-old campaign with a narrow win at Ayr but he took his form to another level when scoring by a couple of lengths at Redcar, impressing with how smoothly he moved through the race. He still looks fairly treated off a 5 lb higher mark and could have a bit more to offer.
Eagle Court failed to beat a rival home on his return here over a mile last month, but there is good reason to expect a better effort this time. Eagle Court was entitled to need the run on his first start for 168 days, the ground was faster than ideal and he showed his best form over a mile and a quarter last season. He has more suitable conditions now and is only 3 lb higher in the weights than for his win at Nottingham, so he can get back on the up.

Brazen Belle made no impact on her reappearance here last month but she had a good excuse (raced away from the main group) and she took a big step forward to score at Wolverhampton last time, producing a career-best performance in the process. Brazen Belle’s dam, Pepper Lane, progressed well with age, which offers hope there could be more to come from this three-year-old filly, and a 4 lb higher mark than last time might not prove beyond her.
Fiftyshadesofred made little impact on debut at Nottingham last season but he was a completely different proposition on his reappearance at Yarmouth last month, finishing runner-up. He was unable to get the better of a useful prospect but he pulled a long way clear of the third, and that looks like the strongest piece of form on offer. He can give the in-form Roger Varian another winner.
The veteran Moonraker had fallen a long way in the weights prior to winning at Southwell last month but that effort showed he retains plenty of enthusiasm. He is able to run off a lower mark on turf and will go close if in similar form to last time, when he powered four and a half lengths clear.
