Aidan O’Brien’s juveniles have made a strong start to the season and a chance is taken on the well bred newcomer HEART TO HEART who is a half-sister to last year’s Commonwealth Cup winner, Golden Horde. Cailin Cliste has the strongest claims from those who have had a run already and any market support for Orinoco River could be significant on debut.

17:00 – The Highway Rat
Betrayed could be a popular pick in her course hat-trick bid but the form of her latest win hasn’t been done many favours since and she might not be quite as effective over this trip. On that basis, preference is for THE HIGHWAY RAT who should be competitive from this sort of mark back on all-weather if his recent turf run can be forgiven.
17:30 – War Hero
The course specialist WAR HERO is going to be hard to beat if he’s anywhere near the level he was at when winning around here earlier in the year. Eglish wasn’t far behind that day but she’s not guaranteed the strong pace she needs over this trip so the unexposed Rocky Dreams could be the main danger to the selection.
18:00 – Monzoon
Not a bad handicap. Maggie Thunder has been a model of consistency and can be expected to run her race once more. Clear chances can also be given to Saturday’s Naas runner-up Pretty Smart, the well-drawn Blue Wood and the consistent Poet’s Pride. A chance is taken though on MONZOON after a good run at Tipperary last month. The drop back to this trip could suit him well.

18:30 – Darkdeserthighway
Plenty here with chances. Cork winner International Lady is the obvious place to start and she should go close. There should be little to choose between Taylored and Get Noticed from their meeting in a nursery here in November, while the improving Medway might not be far away. However, it might not be a bad idea to side with handicap debutante DARKDESERTHIGHWAY who showed ability on her debut here in December and could be well handicapped.
19:00 – Getaway Queen
Not many make much appeal in this contest. The standard is set by three-time course winner GETAWAY QUEEN (nap) and she will be hard to beat. At the other end of the handicap, Wisaka might ask her the most questions.
19:30 – Moktaffy
Some well bred newcomers in here including Witham River and Malawi but MOKTAFFY has some useful form to his name and he could be hard to beat if the first-time visor yields any improvement. Baron Zee was in behind the selection last time and shouldn’t be far away if he steps forward from that.
