13:40 York – Throne Hall

ITV coverage Wednesday gets under way here with this handicap over 1m 4f. Wide open with some terrifically in form and progressive horses. THRONE HALL was beaten at evens last time, but I have a feeling there is still more to come from this Kevin Ryan runner.

My selection started off this season with a good win at Doncaster and I have no doubt this trip is no issue. Andrea Atzeni takes the ride for his retainer, which is going great guns at the moment. In a race chock-full of improving horses, I hope this one has more to offer.

New to Paddy Power?

14:10 York – Bielsa

Now a handicap over 6 furlongs and this is very hard! BIELSA is second run after a wind operation and with the effort under his belt he should at the very least have each way claims. He is another for Kevin Ryan and is ridden by Silvestre De Sousa.

He is lightly raced and ended last season with a good run in a big field at this track. This term he returned in a small field at Ayr, which would not of suited, but will have blown away the cobwebs.

14:25 Newton Abbot – Reserve Tank

ITV also show one race from Newton Abbot in this handicap hurdle over an extended 2m 2f. RESERVE TANK has been pretty hopeless in chases and hurdles recently, but this is a big drop in class and he’s down the handicap a little.

Brendan Powell rides for Colin Tizzard and I’m hoping this level will be much more to his liking than Aintree or Cheltenham, although he also flopped at Uttoxeter last time. He once looked quite decent!

14:40 York – Oxted

This is a Group 2 for sprinters over 6 furlongs and the July Cup winner OXTED was not at his best when second in the Abernant at Newmarket first time out. However, he wasn’t disgraced and showed enough to suggest he will still be a big force this campaign.

The trip and ground are ideal, and this time Ryan Moore will know him a little bit better. This is definitely winnable for this horse and I hope he bangs in for Roger Teal.

15:10 York – Teona

Now the Oaks trial in the Group 3 Musidora Stakes for fillies over an extended 1m 2f. I put up TEONA at big prices for the Oaks on a Sky Sports Racing preview of the Flat season and now I have to pray she’s as good as I believe.

The daughter of Sea the Stars has only raced twice on the all-weather at Newcastle, so it’s impossible to know how she will cope with turf. That said l, she’s bred for the green stuff and looked a real monster when winning on her second start. I’m keeping my fingers crossed she is the real deal for Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni.

15:40 York – Northern Express

Finally, a handicap over 7 furlongs and NORTHERN EXPRESS might appreciate coming back to this trip. He’s been tried over further for Michael Dods in his last couple of starts in a light career. Both have shown he has ability, but suggested a bit less distance would help. Now he gets the chance off a Fair mark under Connor Beasley.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
