13:30 Curragh – Quick Suzy

The absence of a Ballydoyle runner in this opening juvenile maiden at the Curragh is a small surprise considering Aidan O’Brien’s good start to the season and his previous record in this race. The betting market will prove a useful guide as always, but QUICK SUZY gets the verdict for Gavin Cromwell following her debut second at Tipperary last month.

The daughter of Profitable was green on debut, but showed nice ability against impressive winner Elliptic. Theogony, Thunder Eclipse, Snapius and Lady Tanzanite look the main dangers on debut, but Quick Suzy has the benefit of both experience and weight allowance against those rivals today.

New to Paddy Power?

14:00 Curragh – Elliptic (Next Best)

A victory for Quick Suzy in the opener would enhance the form for ELLIPTIC in this Listed First Flier Stakes for trainer Donnacha O’Brien. The daughter of Caravaggio won impressively at Tipperary with her trainer suggesting that either the Queen Mary or Albany Stakes could be possible Royal Ascot targets in June.

Cadamosto has missed several engagements following his debut win at Dundalk, so Cheerupsleepyjean looks the main danger to my selection. She won with ease here last month and it Is interesting to see Jamie Spencer booked for the ride by trainer Fozzy Stack.

14:50 Down Royal – Tullybeg

The Cullentra House stable had an extremely poor Punchestown Festival, but can secure some compensation with TULLYBEG winning this conditions hurdle at Down Royal. The six-year-old returns from a break having finished fourth to Cask Mate when last seen at Punchestown in October.

His second to The Shunter last September reads well and he will appreciate the step-up in distance with Jordan Gainsford taking off 7lbs to help his cause today.

15:10 Curragh – Champers Elysees (NAP)

CHAMPERS ELYSEES was a star for Johnny Murtagh last season and can make a winning return in the Athasi Stakes on Monday afternoon. Her progression last season was wonderful to watch, having made a winning three-year-old debut in a handicap off a rating of 86 last June.

Further success at Galway and Gowran Park followed before landing the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown in September. She’s rated nicely superior to these rivals and wasn’t disgraced when a staying on fourth at Newmarket last October.

She runs well fresh, can handle the ground and trip and despite giving plenty of weight away to her young rivals, Teruya Yoshida’s filly should make a winning return.

The Curragh Paddy Power

16:20 Curragh – Ace Aussie

The Jessica Harrington stable is clearly in form and can secure another winner with ACE AUSSIE in this Listed Tetrarch Stakes at HQ on Monday. The son of Australia has the best form on offer here, having won a Cork maiden last September, before disappointing in the Beresford Stakes.

His standout piece of form came last month when second to Poetic Flare at Leopardstown, who claimed victory in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday for Jim Bolger. Elsewhere, Horoscope might improve for blinkers, while Magnanimous is also in opposition here having finished down the field in the Leopardstown Guineas Trial.

17:05 Down Royal – Silas Marner

SILAS MARNER showed enough at both Leopardstown and Limerick to suggest he’s more than capable of landing the closing bumper at Down Royal on Monday. Charles O’Brien has booked Jamie Codd for the ride with the form of his two starts standing out against these rivals. He finished a good second to Dark Ravan on debut in Foxrock, with the winner following up again at Fairyhouse last month for Willie Mullins.

He found another Coolsutton runner, Belle Metal too good when third in a listed bumper at Limerick and should take this unless there’s a hidden gem among the field. Stuart Crawford’s pair, Ballycoose and Champ De Gane, both owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede warrant respect.
