The fifth and final day of the Punchestown Festival is upon us and you can enjoy a packed an eight-race schedule.
In the 15:20, Willie Mullins will be hoping to secure another winner, with Concertista, Stormy Ireland and Burning Victory all racing in the Mares Champion Hurdle.
Paddy Power and top Paddy Trader Frank Hickey assessed the Punchestown card on the latest edition of Paddy Power’s From the Horses Mouth podcast, focusing on the last day of this week’s showcase Festival that brings the curtain down on the Irish jumps season.
Alpha Des Obeaux was unlucky on Thursday to be run out of it when he seemed to be enjoying the banks. I’d mark that down as a free look without a hard race.
Burning Victory won the Triumph that Goshen fell at the last in and was staying on that day so the extra half mile will suit. He’s coming back from a long lay off but trained by Willie Mullins…
The De Bromhead and Foster stables seem to be bang out of form this Punchestown so the top of the market is to be taken on, not that Noel Meade is flying, but Jeff Kidder has a squeak each way.

Fag An Bealach should be okay on the ground and was very impressive last time. Arthur Moore is a legend at getting them right on the big day and it’s noticeable that she’s just snuck in the bottom of this handicap.
Cape Gentleman won on good ground at Kempton over 2m but probably prefers this trip. Trainer Emmet Mullins has had the season of a lifetime and it would be fitting if he topped it off with a Punchestown win.
Irregularheartbeat hacked up on good ground at Kilbeggan last week so is in fine fettle. I’d say the plan is to get to the front early and hopefully be hard to peg back.

14:15 – Alpha Des Obeaux
Alpha Des Obeaux was unlucky on Thursday to be run out of it when he seemed to be enjoying the banks. I’d mark that down as a free look without a hard race.
New to Paddy Power?
14:50 – Freewheelin Dylan
The Irish National winner Freewheelin Dylan probably won’t be 150/1 but he was so impressive at Fairyhouse that day and he’s worth following up on.
15:20 – Burning Victory
Burning Victory won the Triumph that Goshen fell at the last in and was staying on that day so the extra half mile will suit. He’s coming back from a long lay off but trained by Willie Mullins…
16:00 – Jeff Kidder
The De Bromhead and Foster stables seem to be bang out of form this Punchestown so the top of the market is to be taken on, not that Noel Meade is flying, but Jeff Kidder has a squeak each way.

A lazy choice in Willie The Coo but Willie & Patrick Mullins in the bumper….’nuf said!
