Having only had one start each King Triton, Amy Beach and Talbeyah are all entitled to improve, with the first-named possibly the pick with this longer trip likely to suit. However, AURIFEROUS showed enough when runner-up on last month’s Kempton return to suggest he will win races and this looks a good opportunity.
With the stable having a good record in this race the Bernard Llewellyn-trained pair Arty Campbell and Triple Nickle are worth considering, while Panatos also looks interesting having won this race off a 5lb higher mark two years ago. However, STORMY NIGHT gained his first win since arriving from Germany at Wolverhampton ten days ago and now that he has found his feet he can defy a penalty.
The stable’s record in this race means that Cogital is worth a second look while She’s All In Gold remains open to improvement now upped in trip for this handicap debut, but SELSEY SIZZLER showed a fine attitude to get off the mark on his second start for David Menuisier at Newcastle last time and may still have more to offer. The return to a longer trip certainly shouldn’t be an issue. Smith is another to consider if building on his improved effort on Polytrack last time.
Having chased home a progressive filly on his recent reappearance Power Station has to go on the shortlist while Mercurius Power would have a chance if transferring his AW on to turf. COUL KAT (nap) looks the one to side with, however, following last week’s encouraging return when second at Epsom. He is already due to go up 4lb for that.
This can go to EMJAYTWENTYTHREE, runner-up on both occasions he has raced in handicaps over this trip. The return to slightly easier company can see him off the mark. Greycious Girl and Ooh Is It, third and fifth respectively at Bath a fortnight ago, look best of the opposition.

Both MAJOR VALENTINE and Rainbow Mirage won different divisions of the same handicap at Windsor a fortnight ago with the latter doing so in a slightly quicker time. Mark Rimell’s filly remains unexposed on turf and seems sure to make her presence felt, but looking at the record of the former it’s noticeable that when he rediscovers his form he tends to maintain it, so as he remains very well-treated on old form he gets the vote.
BLUEBELL TIME returned to form from out of the blue when going close in a big field at Bath and should make a bold bid if able to back that up. David’s Beauty has an excellent record here and is another to consider, while Aquadabra starts off her campaign on a fair mark.
The ground probably isn’t a major issue for WOODCOCK and he has a good run in him off the same mark as his plucky second at Bath recently. Selecto could be the main danger as it’s early in the season for Sir Plato to be showing his best form.
