AIR TO AIR left the impression he had been allotted a fair mark when finishing second on nursery debut last season and, despite an 8lb rise for that effort, he further strengthened that argument when filling the same position on his return at Newcastle last month. He again started odds-on and travelled as though some way ahead of his mark, his rider seemingly keen to keep him on the bridle for as long as possible. The sharper nature of this track should suit and he is strongly fancied to open his account despite another 7lb rise in the weights.

19:55 Where’s Tom (NB)

WHERE’S TOM won a bumper at Ascot and a minor event over course and distance last year and arrives in good form having finished runner-up the last twice. The form of his second-place finish at Kempton in January has worked out well, and he was beaten only by a thoroughly tough rival in top form last time. Where’s Tom travelled fluently on that occasion and pulled well clear of the remainder, leaving the impression his turn isn’t far away, and he will remain of interest from a 3lb higher mark.

REECELTIC remains a maiden but left the impression he should have won over two miles at this track last time, never ideally placed and forced to take a trip around the houses when mounting his challenge. He raced freely over the longer trip, too, still having plenty to do a furlong from home but finishing with a flourish after conceding first run to the winner. He remains unexposed on the Flat and seems sure to launch another bold bid.
