13:50 – AMBER DEW

AMBER DEW is bred to be sharp and she was the paddock pick when shaping well on her debut at Newmarket earlier this month. She shaped well to boot, too, perhaps keener than ideal, and green when off the bridle, but still showing plenty to work on. There should be improvement in her now and she can prove too strong for likely-looking newcomer Kodias Sangarius.

14:20 – SIR RUMI

SIR RUMI cost €160,000 as a yearling and was about the pick on looks in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket earlier this month. Quite a few made appeal on paper and in the paddock in a race which can be hard to gauge at this early stage, but Sir Rumi was more clued up than most and showed plenty to work on. He was given quite an aggressive ride, sent into the lead two furlongs from home before being headed inside the final furlong. All of those who beat him came from much further back and Sir Rumi is well up to winning a race of this nature.

14:50 – ROMAN MIST

ROMAN MIST remains just a fair maiden, but she ran her best race to date when finishing fourth on her turf debut at Windsor two weeks ago, leaving the impression she would have been better suited by a more searching gallop. Still, the way she weaved her way through rivals from the rear suggests she is ahead of the handicapper, so she makes plenty of appeal from the same mark. Evening Song is preferred of the two Marco Botti-trained fillies.

15:20 – POET’S LADY

POET’S LADY showed fairly useful form to open her account at Haydock last season before bumping into one who has gone on to win at listed level on her handicap debut at Hamilton on her final start as a three-year-old. She also showed plenty to work on when finishing an eye-catching seventh in the Spring Mile at Doncaster on her return last month, taking a keen hold early and suffering some interference after a furlong. Poet’s Lady moved through the race as though still on a good mark before the lack of a recent outing seemingly told in the closing stages. That form is working out well, she is still unexposed and will remain of interest from the same mark.

15:55 – MOSTLY

Quite an open listed event for fillies, but the one who could take her form to another level is MOSTLY for the Gosden team. She has had just five career starts and looked potentially smart when bolting up in a handicap at Kempton on her return to action last month on the back of another breathing operation. That second operation clearly worked the oracle as she showed much improved form, tanking through the race before being asked to put it to bed in ready fashion approaching the final furlong. Both of her wins – and her two most impressive performances – have come on the all-weather, which is a slight concern, but she is a good-topped sort with a smart pedigree, so the percentage call is very much that there’s better still to come.

LOSTWITHIEL’s form isn’t particularly strong, but he’s clearly very promising, and with more to come now stepping up further in trip, he could prove his opening BHA mark all wrong. He looked a good prospect when bolting up at Wolverhampton earlier this month and he is the type to go on improving for a while yet. Hochfeld raced closer to the pace than ideal at Musselburgh and looks best of the remainder.

SHALAA ASKER left his disappointing reappearance run well behind when beaten a head in second over this course and distance earlier this month, and shaped much better than the bare result when again hitting the frame at Thirsk 10 days ago. He not only came from much further back than the first two, but he also encountered trouble in running, having to wait for a gap to unfold around two furlongs out and running on well having worked his way across to the other side of the group. The handicapper has left him on the same mark and he is of definite interest at a track that clearly suits.
