The stands’ rail is a fillip too. The market can guide as far as the newcomers are concerned.

A trappy sprint in which none of the six runners are bombproof. Batraan is feared after his Nottingham success, where he had Cuban Breeze in behind, but perhaps VIRGINIA PLANE will prove the answer. She’ll need to have improved over the winter to defy a 5lb rise for her Catterick win but that’s quite possible.

15:15 Zabeel Champion

Today’s opponents present Madeeh with a stiffer challenge than those he’s been treating with disdain on the AW this year. Faylaq has plenty of ability but ZABEEL CHAMPION could still be capable of better and he can follow up his recent course success.

15:50 Themaxwecan

Rajinsky is usually seen on slower ground than the forecast and while he’s on a handy mark, he may have to give best to THEMAXWECAN. Mark Johnston’s 5yo dug deep to win at Musselburgh three weeks ago (Notation well behind) and the return to 2m won’t faze him at all.

16:25 Muscika

Desert Safari has yet to win on turf but he comes here on the back of a career best on the AW and he’s feared. Mr Lupton couldn’t show his true colours on his reappearance but he’s a key player. Fortamour still has more races in him but he didn’t look totally at ease on fast ground last time so perhaps MUSCIKA can come out on top. He ran very well over 5f at Beverley last time and the return to this trip can see him get off the mark for the season.

There could well be more to come from La Trinidad this season and he’s of interest, while Overwrite comes here on the back of a front-running success at Newmarket and also warrants consideration. There was a lot to like about the way that ARTISTIC RIFLES (nap) knuckled down to win the Spring Mile four weeks ago though and a 2lb rise may underestimate that form. His trainer is in blistering form and there’s lots to like about his chance.

This looks a gilt-edged opportunity for DUBAWI SANDS and he can confirm the abundant promise of his recent reappearance. Allegranza should leave her 2yo effort well behind this year and she can chase the selection home.
