13:10 Poderoso

Martyn Meade has done very well with his two-year-olds at this course in recent seasons, so Object has to be high on the list. But, our preference is for the well-bred PODEROSO. His dam’s first two foals have been Listed winner Royal Commando and two-time Group 2 runner-up Yazaman. Richard Hannon saddles Gisburn and Tyson and the betting could be informative.

13:40 Came From The Dark

This is full of interesting runners, with four of the eight coming into the race on the back of a win. Preference is for CAME FROM THE DARK, who went down only narrowly in a warm race at Musselburgh on his reappearance despite having to be switched. The lightly raced King’s Lynn is one to note in sprint handicaps this year and looks a big danger, with Garrus, Ivatheengine and Dirty Rascal also feared.

14:15 Almighwar

Taghrooda’s second foal ALMIGHWAR has shown staying potential over 1m 3f and 1m 4f at Kempton and today’s step up in trip could unlock improvement from this very lightly raced four-year-old. Dancing Harry could have more to offer, having been gelded since last season. He is feared most ahead of Imperium and Author’s Dream, although there are several others to consider as well.

14:50 Dingle

The Hannon stable has won three of the last six runnings and the Wiltshire trainer saddles three today. DINGLE (NAP) is particularly interesting as he beat Recovery Run on his nursery debut at Kempton last September and that form has been given a major boost by the subsequent exploits of the runner-up.

Stablemate Clarendon Cross is feared most based on how well his fourth place in a Leicester novice in August has worked out. The hat-trick-seeking Rafiki is next on the list ahead of Mithras and Beautiful Bertie.

15:25 Maximal

An absorbing contest featuring a number of promising, well-bred three-year-olds from top stables, almost all of them with big-race entries. It’s impossible to be confident about the outcome, but the most experienced runner MAXIMAL is by no means the most exposed. He gets the vote with the step up in trip likely to suit him well.

Hurricane Lane looked a smart prospect on his only two-year-old outing and could be the chief threat. Set Point, Tasman Bay and Senita are three more to consider.

16:00 Darlectable You

The Gosden yard has sent out numerous winners of this contest, and Oaks entrant DARLECTABLE YOU, the probable first string, can emulate her very smart sister Lah Ti Dar – who carried the Lloyd Webber colours to success here in 2018. Newcomers may pose the biggest threats, with Crystal Starlet, Dolphin and Mellow Magic suggested in that order.

16:35 Sea Karats

As in the first division, the Gosdens run two in a race they have dominated in recent years, with Gloria Mundi the choice of Frankie Dettori this time. However, our preference is for SEA KARATS, an expensive yearling with a smart pedigree and an entry in the Oaks.

Mick Channon’s Folly Beach and Roger Charlton’s Najeeba, both of whom shaped encouragingly on their only outings last year, can be expected to improve for today’s step up to 1m 2f.

17:05 Maajdah

With no form to go on, the market may help sort the wheat from the chaff, although the most recent renewal in 2019 was won by a 25-1 shot. Among the more appealing profiles are those of Far Hope and Siyata, but perhaps the classiest pedigree belongs to MAAJDAH. She’s taken to make a perfect start for a stable that has won this race before.
