A renewal of Curragh juvenile Listed-race rivalry could see fifth-placed CYCLADIC reverse form with the more experienced La Joconde who was around one length in front of her in third. Dermot Weld’s newcomer Alazenya comes from a top-class family and warrants respect.
Derby entrant SOUTHERN LIGHTS (nap) ran a cracker over 7f on debut last year but will be much more at home over this trip and can break his duck. Fellow Derby entrants and stablemates Yarrawonga and King Of The Castle are obvious dangers, while Hell Bent and Safari Quest should better their last runs. Money for newcomer Tazaral, would be significant.
It could pay to focus on Dundalk form and FORBEARANCE appeals as a well-bred, lightly-raced filly who won a maiden despite being very easy to back. Several who have shown decent form at Dundalk – such as Melliferous, Pempie, Shamiyan and Drakensburg – might prefer 1m4f, but the trip should suit Bring Us Paradise, whose stablemate Blyton is not sure to stay.
Aidan O’Brien’s LOPE Y FERNANDEZ stands out as a Group 1 horse running in a Listed race. He should be far too strong for these rivals, best of whom may be Ancient Spirit, twice runner-up in Group 3 races at this venue last season. At his best, Saltonstall would get into the money, while Mr Wendell has the merit of being relatively unexposed.
The runners with form don’t set a particularly high standard, so perhaps the well-bred ACANELLA can make a winning debut. Apres Toi, in the same ownership, is also interesting, as is the well-bred Climate. Dixie Bluebell and Montego Bay boast decent form and won’t go down without a fight but look vulnerable.

This looks like a minefield, but perhaps ELOSO will convert the promise shown at Dundalk to score on his first attempt on grass. Aleksey Tolstoy and The Highway Rat are also worth considering on Dundalk form. The high-drawn Iowa and Vocito are other leading possibilities.
Luck always plays a part in big-field handicaps around here, especially for a hold-up type, but if he gets the rub of the green in the straight, ICE COLD IN ALEX is weighted to regain winning ways. Roxette was impressive at Cork last time and is feared, while Zephron, Atlas, Oh Purple Reign and Stately Home can go well.
A chance is taken on SWEET JUSTICE to get off the mark now back to a trip and track over which she has run well last year. Musalsal should go close, while Fascinating Spirit and Sassy Dancer could go well at a price.
