13:50 Sweet Adare (NAP)

Chasing didn’t go to plan for SWEET ADARE (nap) in the early part of the season but she got back in the groove with a pretty convincing hurdle win at Wincanton two weeks ago, where she drew nicely clear of the others with an unexposed rival. She can overcome a 5lb rise here, possibly at the main expense of Glory And Honour.

14:20 Tequila Blaze

This looks a good opportunity for TEQUILA BLAZE, who seems versatile regarding ground and comes here after running well in defeat on consecutive outings. Thats The Truth posted a sound effort when second on her handicap debut in December and looks the main danger. Whiskey Lullaby is the other key player, but she doesn’t seem to be making any progress.

14:55 Sir Sholokhov

There should still be a lot more to come from SIR SHOLOKHOV, who was nicely in command in the closing stages of his recent chase/handicap debut and, after only under three starts under rules, remains very unexposed. Ballyhill is very well handicapped on old form and might be perked up by the fitting of a visor but Go Long seems more likely than him to run his race and is second choice.

15:30 Mystic Court

Last-time-out winner Beau Haze could plausibly have more to offer, while Clongowes also comes here after a good recent effort and is another to consider. However, the suggestion is MYSTIC COURT, who ran well until looking stretched by 3m on his stable debut in December and is now well handicapped on his autumn form. Crossfirehurricane shaped with considerably more promise than the bare form suggests when ninth on his handicap debut and, now back on good ground, he might provide the main threat.

This can go to COURT ROYALE after his excellent run in a stronger race at Chepstow where he was just out of the handicap. He runs off his current mark here but is likely to have it adjusted upwards this week. Tikkinthebox won after a winter break last summer and can prove the main danger though Punches Cross must be watched in the market now he’s right down the weights and wears headgear for the first time in Britain. Red Inca is not ruled out entirely either.

Paul Nicholls’ newcomer Hard Frost will probably play a significant role but Irish point winner FLAMENCO DE KERSER made a very promising rules debut at Wincanton last month and is selected to provide Richenda Ford with her first bumper success. Ted’s Friend also features prominently in calculations.
