18:20 Chelmsford – Tavrina
As tempting as it is to row in behind Champagne Supanova being a big Oasis fan back in the day I think it may pay to follow another horse in this 7f handicap. I’m siding with Tavrina trained by Stuart Williams. The Newmarket trainer has his horses in decent form and has enjoyed a couple of winners and a few placed horses in the last few weeks. Over the last six weeks there has been plenty to like about this horses’ displays on the polytrack.
This five-year-old mare was fourth of 13 runners at Wolverhampton last month in a classified stakes, before winning a similar race at Chelmsford next time out. Most recently this horse went off favourite in a handicap on the all-weather at Kempton and finished third of 11 runners. There’s lots to like about the consistency this mare has showed of late and should be right in the mix here at the business end. Tavrina is the first leg of my Thursday tea-time double.

18:50 Chelmsford – Agent Shiftwell
The second leg of our Stuart Williams double is this four-year-old gelding Agent Shiftwell. The application of cheekpieces bore fruit last time out when the horse, steered by Oisin Murphy, finished third at Chelmsford in a 5f handicap.
Andre Atzeni is a very capable pilot and sits on him this evening and I think this horse has as good a chance as any in this line up to take home the prize money. Hat-trick seeking Smokey is sure to have his backers in the betting, but I am sticking to my guns here with Agent Shiftwell.
Stuart Williams has his fleet in fine fettle and his aforementioned run last time out was very solid over course and distance. I just think there is more to come from this horse and I feel we may see a quick fire tea-time double for the Williams yard!
