14.35, Limerick – Mr Coldstone

MR COLDSTONE was a good winner on his debut at Tramore, and was then thrown in at the deep end at Leopardstown behind Appreciate It. He finished well down the field that day under Denis O’Regan but he was a 100/1 shot. This is a more realistic target for him.

He will want the ground to dry as much as it can – he won on testing ground at Tramore but this is a slightly more competitive race. However, he’s a fast, sharp horse and Limerick should suit him. He’s capable enough off the mark he has.

15.10, Limerick – Yukon Lil

This is a good opportunity for YUKON LIL, rather than a decision to go back hurdling after chasing. She had a really good run behind Elimay and Shattered Love at Naas on her last start, although prior to that she was pulled up over 2½m at Thurles.

2m seems to be her forte, and she beat Scarlet And Dove in a beginners’ chase at Cork first time up over fences, and she’s a wonderful jumper. Felicidad is the highest rated of the opposition – she’s 122 – and I would expect Yukon Lil is definitely a 130 mare, if not more than that. I think Yukon Lil will win and she is my NAP of the weekend.

15.25, Naas – Up Helly AA

The Plusvital Devoy Stakes at Naas is a cracking contest and there are some big names in here as well that are good yardsticks. Saltonstall is a wonderful horse, Broome was well fancied in the Derby at one stage, while you have Sonnyboyliston and then Up Helly Aa for Johnny Murtagh. I think UP HELLY AA, right at the bottom of the weights and only five-years-old, could be the interesting one but this is a classy flat race either way.

16.00, Naas – Parent’s Prayer

I think PARENT’S PRAYER is interesting for Archie Watson, and Oisin Orr takes the ride. He came to Gowran Park last year and finished second behind Champers Elysees over 7f. He then came back to Naas where he beat Stormy Belle over 1m. Course and distance form, so that could be interesting.

16.20, Limerick – Full Time Score

Chatham Street Lad is out early for this after the Cheltenham Festival, which is an interesting angle, and he didn’t get a wonderful run in the Marsh Novices’ Chase. He got stopped a couple of times and, while it probably didn’t make a difference to his finishing position, he never got out and galloping. It’s a quick turnaround and that was a really relentless race – Shan Blue spread that field – and everything had a hard race in it. On that turnaround, you would be opposing him if you had something to oppose him with.

In theory, you would be looking to take on Chatham Street Lad but finding one to take him on with is tricky… FULL TIME SCORE won his last two starts, at Fairyhouse where he beat Fire Squadron and then in Gowran Park where he beat Mount Melleray, but it’s not anywhere near the level of form Chatham Street Lad has.

17.30, Limerick – Belle Metal

BELLE METAL was very impressive on her debut, but plenty of this field have had a run already too despite there not being a huge amount of four-year-old bumpers. Belle Metal was a really good winner at Naas when Jody Townend rode her, and she’s been sold since – she now runs in the colours of Kenny Alexander, the same as Honeysuckle. She beat Captain Conby by a long way on that day in Naas – 12l in the end – and she handles soft ground while she stays really well. She should be hard to beat.
