13:50 Buzz Of New York

The testing ground conditions should benefit a fit horse and BUZZ OF NEW YORK looks an interesting contender for Johnny Murtagh in the opener at Navan on Saturday. This filly returns quickly having finished in mid-division behind Joan Of Arc at the Curragh last Sunday.

However, despite the quick turnaround, there are several positives to boost her chances of victory in this 5-furlong maiden. The drop down in trip looks a notable benefit having led until two furlongs from home over 7 furlongs to finished ninth at HQ last Sunday.

Murtagh has also decided to use cheekpieces for the first time and has made the decision to let Wesley Joyce take the mount. The young jockey is having his fourth career ride and claims 10lbs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Buzz Of New York dominates from the front and sees off Provocateuse and others to win a decent price.

New to Paddy Power?

15:35 Kailash

Henry The Fifth represents the Godolphin team, with Johnny Murtagh now added to their training list after an excellent 2020 campaign. It will be interesting to see how the son of Dawn Approach races on debut, with the stable also running the more experienced Skilled Warrior in this open looking maiden. Murtagh has decided to fit cheekpieces on Ben Coen’s mount who recently finished third at Dundalk at the end of February.

Ceili House for Jim Bolger along with Eternal Presence, Hell Bent, Team Of Firsts and Xeres all warrant respect among a big field. However, KAILASH gets the vote for Dermot Weld and Oisin Orr following four promising runs last season.

The son of Mastercraftsman was placed three times behind some nice Ballydoyle horses at the Curragh and Cork. His second-placed effort to Santa Barbara stands out considering the bullish reports from Aidan O’Brien regarding his filly this week.

16:45 HMS Seahorse

It was a good start to the new season for the Ballydoyle team last Sunday with a couple of three-year-old maiden winners and it’s hard to see beyond HMS SEAHORSE in this 1m maiden. The son of Galileo raced a promising fourth on debut at the Curragh last July, with winner Mac Swiney enhancing the form with victory in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster last October for Jim Bolger.

Snowy Owl, Erzindjan and Wembley have all boosted the form with subsequent victories, while the Aidan O’Brien runner (Wembley) also finished second to stablemate St Mark’s Basilica in the Dewhurst at Newmarket. The market will, of course, be a guide beforehand with Earlswood looking a danger for Johnny Murtagh following several encouraging starts last season. Elsewhere, Figlio D’arte races on debut for Joseph O’Brien while Scott Lang could be the best of the older horses.
