11:45 Dubai Kahayla Classic – Rb Frynchh Dude
RB FRYNCHH DUDE has really impressed me over the past 18 months, his victory in the Al Maktoum Round 2 was as impressive an Arabian Pure Breed Stakes victory as I remember seeing. He is very uncomplicated for an Arabian breed, and can be excused his run in Saudi Arabia last month in a race that was as messy as I can remember seeing.
New to Paddy Power?
12:50 Dubai Gold Cup – Spanish Mission
I’m very strong on SPANISH MISSION here to go one better than in the Red Sean Turf Handicap on Saudi Cup day. He is better off on the weights can current race favourite Secret Advisor, but I still can’t get my head around the winner from Saudi running in the World Cup on dirt than here over the extended turf trip. Subjectivist for Team GB makes no appeal to me at the prices, given all his good runs have come on softer ground.
13:30 Al Quoz Sprint – Cowen
Space Blues will be the home team’s best chance of a winner on the card, but over his minimum trip I want to take him on and the three-year-old COWEN is the one to do so with. He was a good second on dirt in Saudi Arabia, but he reverts to turf sprinting here. Based on his Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint run and taking the weight for age allowance into account, he can cause an upset at an each-way price.
14:40 Dubai Golden Shaheen – Justin
It seems that JUSTIN is the forgotten horse of the race in this 6-furlong dirt sprint. He went off third favourite in the Riyadh Dirt Sprint that had many of these in the field, but he missed the kick and didn’t have the room to go when he wanted while on the bend, but ran on when he got daylight. At a possible double figure price with Paddy going an extra place here, he rates as a decent each-way chance.
15:30 Dubai Turf – Lord Glitters
This race falls perfectly for the 2021 Dubai Carnival star LORD GLITTERS, he has thrived in the desert this winter and will get the conditions he craves. With a good pace likely, he will come with is trademark turn of foot.
16:10 Dubai Sheema Classic – Mishriff
This is the race of the day, Mishriff v Mogul v Chrono Genesis and that makes it England v Ireland v Japan. We have found making a clear-cut favourite hard going but the tricast for me is Mishriff, Mogul and Chrono Genesis.
MISHRIFF won on the dirt on Saudi, but the connections have been very clear about their 2021 priority being the Arc de Triomphe and this is a great opportunity to test his stamina on a fair track. Mogul is as good as a Sheema Classic runner as Aidan O’Brien has sent to Dubai, but remains a quirky ride. However, they appear to know how to ride him now.
16:50 Dubai World Cup – Jesus’ Team
I have been really impressed with JESUS’ TEAM since the Preakness Stakes last year. He only found Knicks Go too good for him at the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile and at the Pegasus World Cup, but I feel that he is still underestimated by the market and should be about favourite here.
The Meydan dirt track has been riding fair for the first time since they laid it down, so he can run his normal of race. Meanwhile, the market has overplayed the favourite Mystic Guides’ up with the pace run style.
