12:30 – Caddyhill

Caddyhill was outclassed when last seen in a useful novice hurdle at Cheltenham in December, but he had caught the eye when finishing second on a couple of occasions previously, and the combination of a return to better ground and calmer waters may do the trick. Mackelduff and Kensington Art are entitled to improve on their opening efforts in this sphere, though, and shouldn’t be underestimated.

13:00 – Style it Out

Admittedly, it wasn’t much of a handicap for a 0-120 that Style It Out won at Ayr 11 days ago, but it was hard not to be impressed with the manner of her victory. She made a mockery of her opening mark, always travelling fluently and quickly drawing clear when produced to lead at the second-last. Style It Out has to concede at least six pounds to all of her rivals now, but looks one to keep on the right side. Fable did the job nicely at Huntingdon, and looks open to more progress now upped in trip, so is another to consider.

13:30 – Keep Rolling

This looks like a good and competitive novice handicap chase, but Keep Rolling is very much at the right end of the handicap judged on his debut over fences at Chepstow last month and looks the one to side with. A rangy gelding, he is very much the type to make a better chaser, a free-going sort who didn’t really pay much respect to his hurdles, and he nearly came down on his chase debut when clattering the fourth-last. Hopefully, that mistake will have taught him plenty, as he has the raw ability to win a race of this nature with ease from a mark of 119. All six of his rivals look possible threats, however, notably Captain Blackpearl and Broken Quest.

14:02 – Song Of The Hunter

A few with chances, but Song Of The Hunter looks the way to go given he has run two excellent races since joining Johnny Farrelly, improving slightly on his stable debut when second at Newbury last time, and still has few miles on the clock, so there could be even more to come. Star of Rory also arrives in fine nick, so should ensure he doesn’t have things all his own way.

14:37 – March Is On

In a race where pretty much everything has a question to answer at present, a chance is taken on March Is On returning to form as he’s beginning to look well treated. He has now sliped four pounds below his last winning mark and, though his recent efforts leave a little to be desired, he represents a shrewd yard and any market support should be noted. Point-winner Drumlee Getaway rates a possible improver now handicapping for the first time since undergoing a wind operation.

15:12 – Destinee Royale

Destinee Royale proved suited by the step up to three miles when getting off the mark for the season at Wetherby last month, staying on well in the closing stages to beat a subsequent winner by six and a half lengths. It was stamina which won her the race on the day, so this four-furlong longer trip may bring about even more progress, so she’s a confident selection to follow up from a nine pound higher mark for the in-form Venetia Williams. Samuel Jackson displayed his battling qualities when taking the Devon National last month so has to be seen as a real danger.

15:47 – Mr Glass

There doesn’t appear to be much depth to this, and Mr Glass, who drew clear in impressive fashion when winning by 11 lengths at Wetherby last time, is a confident selection to follow up. That form was boosted when the runner-up won next time and it will likely take a smart effort to lower his colours despite carrying a penalty.
