GLENS FINALE can give the in-form team of Denise Foster and Jack Kennedy another winner in the opening maiden hurdle at Navan on Monday. The son of Sholokhov returns after a break having finished down the field at Down Royal before Christmas, with Fun Light, Sean Hogan and La Chanteuse all subsequent winners in recent months.
The drying ground will help his chances having previously managed to win a bumper at Sligo on better ground in 2019. Elsewhere, Risk Factor, Now Where Or When, Ahead Of The Field and even Caesar Rock under Rachael Blackmore look the biggest dangers.
KNIGHT OF MALTA showed enough improvement when finishing second at Gowran Park earlier this month and should secure victory for Denis Hogan in this 2m maiden hurdle. The son of War Front will appreciate the drying round and finished ahead of both Royal Sage and Auckland in Kilkenny.
Hogan once again takes the ride himself and he should have enough to score, with both Nazine and Run For Pat the obvious dangers. Nazine ran above his odds when finishing third at this track earlier this month, while any market support for Denise Foster’s runner would be major positive on debut.
Bigbadandbeautiful makes her debut over hurdles here for Denise Foster and Jack Kennedy following three bumper wins and a flat maiden success at Roscommon last summer. However, the daughter of Big Bad Bob returns after a long break and it might be worth siding against her at such a short-price here.
CATHMART DESJY should give the favourite most to worry about after several good runs for Joseph O’Brien this season. The five-year-old was third to Brady Love in a Fairyhouse bumper in December and only found Santa Rosa too good over course and distance earlier this month.
The mount of JJ Slevin looks better value against the Foster runner, while Newton Pery should improve for a debut fifth at Fairyhouse to finish in the frame in this one.
