19:00 Angel Of Glen (NAP)

A Gleneagles filly, Angel Of Glen made plenty of appeal on paper ahead of her debut at Thirsk in June, and she duly got off to a winning start in a most professional manner, travelling well before being ridden out to win by a half-length. She disappointed under a penalty at Haydock next time out, but, given more of a break, she resumed winning ways back at the scene of her debut win in September, in the lead over two furlongs out and fully in command thereafter, pulling a length and a half clear of her nearest pursuers. She is likely to be showing useful form before long and looks the one to side with in this contest.

20:30 Tyche (NB)

Tyche remains a maiden after eleven runs, but she is a consistent performer and has been knocking on the door of late. She ran well back sprinting when dropped into a 0-55 handicap at this venue in December, staying on for third, and that form has since worked out well. Following a small break, she shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests when fourth at Wolverhampton last month, shaken up on the home turn and denied a clear run soon after, left poorly placed as a result. She made good late headway after recovering herself though, and she remains one to be interesting in from this sort of mark.

16:55 Wise Eagle (E/W)

This is a competitive handicap, with the entire field separated by just 7 lb on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings, and plenty are in with a chance, but the Adam Nicol-trained Wise Eagle looks the most interesting given his recent upturn in form for his new yard.

Wise Eagle went the wrong way following his success in a Lingfield maiden for Tom Clover last year, struggling to make any impression in his subsequent outings, but he has gotten very much back on track for his new yard, in particular in his last two starts in jumpers’ bumpers at this venue, winning here in January before finishing runner-up last month. There is every chance his mark could prove a lenient one based on that evidence, and he merits serious consideration.
