Provided he’s as effective back down in distance, CARIBENO should complete the six-timer. He’s very well handicapped off the same mark as last Saturday and may not have reached his ceiling yet. The consistent Oslo looks solid for runner-up honours.

14:20 – Western Symphony

Glide Down has a respectable chance on the bare figures but he’s yet to show progress and may have to settle for another silver medal, this time behind WESTERN SYMPHONY who is surely capable of further improvement. Closely matched rivals Duke Of Verona and Pride Of England are also worthy of some respect in quite a tight race.

14:50 – Mercurist

Preference is for MERCURIST, who readily won the first division of a 1m handicap here 12 days ago and looks open to further improvement. Rivas Rob Roy, who won the second division of that race, is feared most. Confrerie and Violet’s Lads should be thereabouts judged on current form, while a revival from Weloof looks plausible off his current mark.

15:20 – Gloves Lynch

This step up to 1m may enable GLOVES LYNCH to gain a first win for his current stable, granted better luck in running than the last twice. Silver Dust is taken to bag another silver medal, ahead of the consistent mare Accomplice.

15:55 – Diligent Harry

This useful handicap can go to the promising DILIGENT HARRY (NAP), who gives the impression he can defy an opening mark of 90. Second choice is Rohaan, ahead of Charlie Fellowes and Significantly. Popmaster has potential but he can’t really afford to fluff the start this time.

16:30 – Wemyss Point

Topweight WEMYSS POINT has a solid chance on this year’s efforts and is taken to record a first AW success. Aleatoric is worse off with the selection on C&D form in January but he still looks an important player with Richard Kingscote back on board. Third choice is Aasleagh Fawn, ahead of Amanto. Rahmah rather stole the race under a good ride at Kempton last time but he’s a danger if backing up the form.
