14:00 Marada

Marada won twice over hurdles in the autumn, including over this course and distance, making the most of a good opportunity on that occasion, and she showed improved form back in novice company after 12 weeks off at Market Rasen last month, going with plenty of zest as she and the winner pulled a long way clear of the remainder. She clocked a respectable timefigure on that occasion, not for the first time, and she seems sure to go well again.

14:30 Supremely Lucky

A runner-up on all three of his starts over fences last term, Supremely Lucky proved himself as good as ever when winning his first handicap in a hurdle race at Warwick last month, making good headway under pressure approaching two out and staying on to lead on the run-in, showing a good attitude. He is sent back over fences here and holds leading claims.

15:05 Juniper

Juniper made just her second career appearance some 17 months after her debut at Ballinrobe in September 2019, showing improved form on her first outing for Harry Whittington’s yard to finish runner-up at this course last month, conceding a fitness edge to the winner which perhaps told against her late on. That effort goes down as a useful one, particularly given how well fancied the winner was, and with improvement anticipated, she gets the vote to open her account.

15:35 Onemorefortheroad

Onemorefortheroad showed improved form to open his account in a Newton Abbot bumper on his return in October, and he has made an encouraging start to life over hurdles since, finishing third at Taunton and Doncaster, travelling through the race notably well on the latter occasion in particular. He is certainly going the right way at present and remains open to further improvement, so he is expected to be bang there on his handicap debut.

16:05 Quest For Life

A fairly useful winner in both hurdle and chase disciplines, Quest For Life made light of an 18-month absence to regain the winning thread in a handicap hurdle at Musselburgh in January, proving himself as good as ever following a break. He followed that up in a jumpers’ bumper at Newcastle last month, asserting over two furlongs out and comfortably pulling clear of his nearest pursuers, and he is expected to be firmly in the mix now back over fences.

16:40 Midnight Aurora

Midnight Aurora hinted at a revival when sixth at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day, producing what was, up to that point, her best performance of the season, and she duly confirmed the promise of that effort when resuming winning ways at Plumpton last time, right back to her best after nine weeks off, drawing clear from the usual three out and in command in the straight, winning easily. She should prove very difficult to beat having been quickly turned out under a penalty.

17:10 Quid Pro Quo

A half-brother to useful bumper winner Gypsy Island, Quid Pro Quo looked above average himself when making a winning start in a Hereford bumper in November, quickening to lead entering the straight and briefly catching the runner-up off guard. That form has worked out well since, four next-time-out winners emerging from the race, and Quid Pro Quo is taken to do his own bit for the form and maintain his unbeaten record under a penalty.
