Horse Racing Tips: Our trader’s Trixie for Thursday at Clonmel

14:55 – Brawler

I like Brawler in this one. He has made a very solid start to his chase career with three placed efforts from three runs and he could get off the mark over fences here. There’s not a lot of depth to this race and if he can reproduce any of his three chase runs to date he should prove very hard to beat.

15:30 – Encore Lui

Mark Walsh and Liz Doyle teamed up to win with a similar type of horse a month or so ago in Envol Pieji and they could continue their good partnership here with Encore Lui. He was well backed on his handicap chase debut but could only manage sixth that day. He’s been given a small break since and with the step up in trip likely to suit from what we’ve seen of him over hurdles he should run a big race.

16:05 – Western Boy

Although Western Boy is now a 12 year old he’s showing no signs of slowing down and has been very consistent of late. He’s back up to a mark of 116 over hurdles and runs in this off a mark of 104 and with Richard Condon taking off 7lbs he looks well treated. He’s only had the five chase starts so you’d expect he should be able to pick one of these races up in the not too distance future and Thursday could be his day to do so.

15:30 – Encore Lui
16:05 – Western Boy
