16:00 Stargazer

Several of these boast decent records over C&D, not least STARGAZER, who bounced back to his best when meeting traffic in a race not run to suit (just behind Who Dares Wins) a fortnight ago. Island Brave, who had three of these behind when winning a conditions event in December, including the aforementioned pair, is a danger, but the progressive Notation has to prove she can do it off this mark on the different surface, as well as over the longer trip.

16:30 Great Esteem (NAP)

My Girl Maggie and Al Kout often make the running and stay further, which gives hope that this will be a proper test, and the lightly raced GREAT ESTEEM (nap) looks a decent bet to turn things round with Madeeh on 8lb better terms than over C&D in January, the latter having gone up another 4lb for his subsequent beating of Systemic in a messy affair here.

17:00 Kehailaan

There was nothing at all wrong with KEHAILAAN’s clear second to a useful-looking winner here a fortnight ago and this longer trip should see improvement. He likely has Theyazin to worry about unless the market suggests either of the newcomers is felt above average.

17:30 Home Before Dusk

Culture has enjoyed a consistent AW campaign but is on a career-high mark for his new yard and will want a good test over this shorter trip. Perhaps The Trader and Songkran, who’ve both been making the running of late, will set it up for him, but either way HOME BEFORE DUSK, a well-handicapped four-time course winner whose yard has been among the winners lately, is preferred.

18:00 Imperial Command

There is no guaranteed front-runner but a few have made it before and perhaps Ursa Minor will be the man for the job in first-time headgear, having been gelded after a couple of costly defeats in December. Silver Dust should go well but IMPERIAL COMMAND has progressed well round here since joining his current yard and can defy a further 5lb rise.

18:30 Esticky End

Having shown steady improvement in maiden/novice company over shorter, We Still Believe won well enough over C&D last time and is preferred to the exposed maiden Cuban Cigar at the top of the market. At a likely bigger price, however, ESTICKY END will be happier back on Tapeta in a first-time hood, having got fizzed up at Southwell last time, and is worth chancing.

19:00 Theotherside

Progressive in decent 3yo sprint handicaps last summer before finding softer ground against her latterly, THEOTHERSIDE gets the nod under an experienced 7lb claimer. Dutch Decoy, whose recent second to Tadleel here has been boosted since, and The Great Heir, who’s gone close three times over C&D of late, are two others with obvious claims.
