13:10 – Teahupoo
I don’t think even Paul Townend knows whether Tax For Max or Farout is favoured by trainer Willie Mullins, but he’s opted for Tax For Max who came from Germany and won at Hannover over 1m 2f back in October. He’s a sharp individual and jumps well. I guess it’s a shot in the dark if he goes and wins here like Burning Victory did last year.He could head onto the Triumph after this.
Farout comes from France and won at Vichy back in May 2020. He also ran at Saint-Cloud in October and finished fourth. Both horses are quite fast and they’ll have to settle and jump but I thought Teahupoo looked good at Fairyhouse in January so he’ll take some beating now.
13:45 – Jason The Militant
I’m going for Jason The Militant. If there is a horse that could put himself in the Champions Hurdle picture for the Chelteham Festival in little over a fortnight, it’s him. He’s had a good couple of runs against Abracadabra in the past.
I know he has the penalty to carry, but if there’s a horse with the potential to be a Grade 1 horse going forward, it’s Henry de Bromhead’s runner.

14:52 – Acapella Bourgeois
Burrows Saint is trying to qualify for the Aintree Grand National this season, so he’ll do that on Saturday. However, I’d be worried about his ability to act on really heavy ground. The going will definitely suit Acapella Bourgeois. There’s only 4lbs between them and on heavy ground, I’d sooner be on Acapella’s side for a place here.
