The feature race on Uttoxeter’s Sunday card is the fourth, it’s a class 2 Mares Chase over 2m4f. Cut The Mustard has become slightly frustrating to follow but it’s worth keeping the faith in Paul Nicholls’ 9-year-old for this one.
Cut The Mustard has been runner-up in her last two starts for the Ditcheat team since joining them from Willie Mullins. Both of those efforts were in listed events.
Firstly, she was no match for the highly-touted Annie Mc at Doncaster, but she followed that up with and improved effort behind Zambella at Leicester. It’s only a matter of time before she’s back in the winner’s enclosure and this race looks perfect for her.
Race five on the card is a maiden hurdle over 2m7½f. It’s going to be a gruelling affair with the emphasis being on stamina. Bangers And Cash was bitterly disappointing last time out at Hereford when he was sent off a 2/1 favourite but he is worth another try on the back of his promising hurdles debut before that at Southwell.
On that occasion the selection was unlucky to run into the promising Ocean Drifter. Bangers And Cash had shown marked improvement from it’s bumper form and looked like it was going to challenge for the race until Ocean Drifter found a little bit more. This trip should be right up Bangers And Cash’s street and he is the youngest horse in the field and could potentially be open to more improvement than the others.

The penultimate race on the card is a handicap chase over 3m. It’s going to be another tough encounter and it looks to be the most open race on the card. With conditions not ideal for a lot of these runners, it may be prudent to side with Easy Bucks, one of two course and distance winners in the field.
Peter Bowen does well with his Uttoxeter raids and Easy Bucks won twice around here back in October under today’s pilot, Sean Bowen. Since then, Easy Bucks has gone off the boil slightly but showed improved form in his most recent effort at Chepstow and can win again now he’s back at a venue he loves. The Ogle Gogle Man is the other course and distance winner in the field and is worth a market check after his impressive debut for the Iain Jardine yard.
